Showboat

SHOWBOAT

Atlantic City, NJ
Annie
"As someone who has traveled extensively with parents and other older relatives, I can tell you that Island Waterpark at Showboat checks all the boxes as a perfect Aquatic Leisure Destination for everyone in your travel party." Annie

Watch the sun peek through the glass-covered roof during your trip.
Island Waterpark at Showboat

Your Itinerary

  • Start your day by conquering the fastest two-person raft ride. Even if your group isn't up for another trip up the stair tower, at least they can return to their cabana feeling accomplished while you take on more slides.
  • Being this close to Philly, a cheesesteak for lunch is a MUST.
  • In the afternoon, drift through the lazy river to let that food settle. Then check out the other slides on Slide Island while your parents have another lap around the river.
  • Challenge your friend (AKA mom) at the Tidal Racers.
  • End your day with a drink in hand at the adult-only Bliss Pool as the sun peeks through the glass roof.

Celebration Key

CELEBRATION KEY

Grand Bahama
Pye
"Having managed every aquatic feature on this project, I know the ins and outs of this destination to have a great day in paradise." Pye

Soak up the Bahamian sunshine in crystalline turquoise waters.
Celebration Key

Your Itinerary

  • As you set out to enjoy the largest freshwater lagoons in the Caribbean, head straight to your homebase: an Aquabana in Starfish Lagoon. (Let me tell you, you HAVE to get an Aquabana!)
  • Before it gets too hot consider a little adventure like kayaking or a stroll through Lokono Cove for some Bahamian souvenirs.
  • There's no shortage of food options for lunch, but my pick would be Surf N' Sauce BBQ & Brews for smoked meats plus local craft beer.
  • It's a beautiful view from the top of the Suncastle, and the easiest way down is a ride on the waterslides!
  • If you want to be more in the action, end your day with some drinks at the swim-up bar Long Necks in the adult-friendly Calypso Lagoon, where you can sway along to the music from the DJ island.

Perfect Day at CocoCay

PERFECT DAY AT COCOCAY

CocoCay, Bahamas
Kerry
"As the Aquatic Leisure Destination that my family goes to year after year, Perfect Day at CocoCay has so much to offer any traveler, whether they're looking to relax as adults or treat their kids to an unforgettable vacation." Kerry

Dive into nonstop thrills or find your perfect spot to unwind.
Perfect Day at CocoCay

Your Itinerary

  • Parents will want to head straight to Thrill Waterpark to climb up 255 steps with their kids to Daredevil's Peak. Hit the rest of the slides, then the wave pool, and finally a few [hundred] crossings on the lilypad walk.
  • Couples without kids can make a beeline for Hideaway Beach where you'll find the party pool or the perfect beach to relax.
  • For a more exclusive day on the island, reserve Coco Beach Club for an intimate pool experience, and an amazing lobster lunch!
  • Families with younger children will probably spend their whole day bopping between Oasis Lagoon and Splashaway Bay… conveniently crisscrossing the soft serve ice cream dispenser.
  • My favorite way to end a Perfect Day at CocoCay is listening to live music at Captain Jack's with a drink in hand.

Fantasy Springs

FANTASY SPRINGS

Tokyo DisneySea
Jimmy
"Crossing the globe to visit Japan takes a LOT of preparation on its own. Even as an Orlando-based theme park enthusiast, I was out of my league trying to plan my trip to DisneySea without a little help. Hopefully you find this advice useful!" Jimmy

Explore storybook worlds brought to life in stunning detail.
Tokyo DisneySea

Your Itinerary

  • If you're attempting to ride as many attractions as possible, getting to the park early is crucial. Then you can start booking experiences and rides—some are worth the extra expense.
  • The winding waterways of Fantasy Springs, featuring intricately carved rockwork of beloved Disney characters, are an attraction themselves begging to be explored.
  • My "Must-Ride" attraction has to be Peter Pan's Never Land Adventure which takes you on a round-trip, action-packed journey to Never Land!
  • Tokyo DisneySea is packed to the brim with unique popcorn flavors you won't find anywhere else. Fantasy Springs has Roast Beef-flavored popcorn, which is...unique to say the least, but worth a try!
  • There's no better way to end the day at a Disney Park than a nighttime spectacular, and "Believe! Sea of Dreams" is exactly that!

Baha Mar Resort

BAHA MAR RESORT

Nassau, Bahamas
Josh
"With 11 unique pools, beaches, a golf course, a waterpark, various restaurants, bars, and lounges, and yes—a casino!—it's impossible to be bored at a world-class resort like Baha Mar. The hardest part is trying to do it all in one trip!" Josh

Experience world-class luxury pools and pristine beaches.
Baha Mar Resort

Your Itinerary

  • Start your day at the main pool. You'll have the best chance of finding a lounge chair in the shade, and with all those rounded entryway coves, it makes it feel like your own private pool. Make sure you take a detour to Dean's Blue Hole pool to take the 15-foot leap from the rock jump!
  • The best people watching spot for lunch is the Out Island Bar with a view of the ocean and the flamingo habitat. Though you will also see some very pink people (TIP: re-apply sunscreen in this hot Bahamian sun!).
  • Walk next door to Baha Bay waterpark (free for hotel guests) and ride my favorite shotgun slides, Pirate's Plunge.
  • The late afternoon itinerary is up to you—get a spa treatment, sway to some house music at the party pool, or just freshen up before dinner at one of the celebrity-chef restaurants.

Dive Into Adventure at

AQUATICA

Orlando, Florida
JT
"The top ranked waterpark in the U.S. doesn't lack for thrilling attractions, but the bigger wow factor is each animal encounter along the way! (Did you think I was going to mention the marvels of engineering behind the ride renovations? Well, those too.)" JT

Enjoy family thrills with a SeaWorld twist.
Orlando, Florida

Your Itinerary

  • Head to the thrilling group rides first—the lines get longer later in the day, and you'll knock out those tall towers of steps early. Waterpark day is LEG day!
  • Use Roa's Rapids action river like your transportation around the park; you can get out at the wave pool or the 8-lane mat racer.
  • If you're bringing your kids (even the grown ones), ramp up their competitive spirit at Riptide Race for a side-by-side rush to the finish line.
  • Enjoy some simulated animal encounters on the new Tassie's Underwater Twist with cool projection technology. Then grab a tube to see the real thing while floating through the lazy river's fish and shark tank grottos.
  • Take in the last animal-inspired attraction at Reef Plunge. If you aren't able to spy a dolphin swimming with you as you zoom through their tank, you can still enjoy the glowing sea creature cut-outs in your darkened flume.

Adventure Island

ADVENTURE ISLAND

Tampa, Florida
Dave
"There's no better way to spend a Florida day in the sun with your family than at Adventure Island. After some father-son bonding time on a few slides, then it's your time to relax by the water." Dave

Adventure Island
Tampa, Florida

Your Itinerary

  • Start out on those tall, straight down waterslides. Drops? I'm all for it. Swirling corkscrews of doom? Hard pass—but I'll let you have a go at them.
  • If you're with kids aged 4-12, you'll have to take them to the new children's play area Castaway Falls. Beware, you may end up staying there for the whole day (which could be a good thing, too).
  • Take a trip down the lazy river—it's a half-mile long!
  • If you spring for a cabana, reserve one by the wave pool where you can watch from the shade as your kiddo bobs up and down happily in endless waves.
  • If you do the mat racer, and your kid really wants to beat you, give them a sizable head start. Physics will send any adult speeding past a small child.
